Nursery installs macerator pumps01/07/2008 A Chichester plant nursery has used a macerator pump to get around difficulties with its plumbing system. Roundstones Nursery, which produces plants for garden centres across the UK, found conventional pipes could not be installed on its premises. The firm's two glasshouses, one at 4.5 acres in size and the other 2.5 acres, sit on concrete bases, making it difficult to fit standard gravity-drained discharge pipework. In order to solve the problem, the company opted to install the Sanicubic macerator pump, which allows waste and water from multiple toilets and appliances to be disposed of without conventional plumbing works. The product, which is manufactured by Saniflo, is designed to be used in heavy-duty applications and can pump waste 11 metres vertically or 100 metres horizontally. In addition, the firm points out it has macerator pumps which can be used in a range of situations, from extra toilets, to ensuite bathrooms, to basement conversions. Yesterday, Buildingtalk highlighted the benefits to elderly people of installing a macerator pump toilet on the ground floor of their home.  |
