Saunas - Infrared saunas help recovery from illnesses03/12/2007 Infrared sauna therapy speeds recovery from a host of ailments, a US doctor has claimed. According to Dr David Grahm of San Diego, California, many of his patients "have benefited dramatically" from infrared therapy with positive results seen in sufferers of "severe arthritis, cardiovascular problems and chronic fatigue syndrome". His endorsement comes as more and more consumers are becoming aware of the benefits of infrared saunas over older models. Chief among these are that because of the technology employed in infrared saunas, they are safer to use and enable users to stay in them for longer - thus giving their owners more chance to reap the potential health benefits. Edwin Brown, chief executive officer of sauna manufacturers East Coast Saunas, said: "With all infrared saunas, the temperature is much lower but the infrared heat safely penetrates the body much deeper, up to 1 3/4 inches versus the 1/8-inch penetration by the traditional sauna. "Doctors typically recommend that a person remain in a traditional sauna no more than 20 minutes due to the extremely high temperatures, which can put a strain on the heart." Heat and Plumb offers a range of infrared saunas as well as other health-promoting bathroom fittings such as Phoenix and Rossini whirlpool baths. ![]() |
