Bathroom Taps - Water-saving taps used at Thames Gateway site06/12/2007 The Thames Gateway development will be the first-ever water-neutral construction project, the government has claimed. Plans released today show that the buildings in the so-called eco-region will employ a number of water-saving fittings to attempt to ensure that the region will need no more additional water despite the fact that it will house thousands of new homes. The fittings include eco-taps such as those manufactured by Pegler, variable-flush toilets, low-flow showerheads, and low-flow faucets. These would be employed in all new homes, but would also be retrofitted to existing properties. The development will also be carbon neutral and should keep construction waste to a minimum. Housing Minister Yvette Cooper said: "We have already achieved a great deal but we must raise our ambitions and go further and faster."
