Bathrooms and kitchens are key to a home''s value, says expert

Well-designed and modern kitchens and
bathrooms are some of the best ways of attracting potential buyers for your property, a US home improvement authority has claimed.
According to data from the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) around 15.5 million bathrooms and 9.1 million kitchens are given an overhaul by US citizens annually.
Suzie Wilford, incoming chair of the NKBA, said the reasons these rooms are so often improved by homebuyers was the awareness that not only can these help garner interest in a moribund housing market but that they can add thousands to a property's asking price.
She told the Houston Chronicle: "People spend most of their time in the kitchen, and it's where we entertain. And when people come into our homes they're going to use the bathroom, so we spend a lot of time and attention on those two rooms.
"On a more practical level, that's what contributes the greatest to a home's resale value, so we tend to spend more time fixing those up than the others."
