Homeowners will tap back into DIY trend - News |
Homeowners will tap back into DIY trend19/06/2008 People could return to DIY in an attempt to save money when fixing up their bathrooms and kitchens, a property magazine has claimed. Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine predicted DIY would rise in popularity as homeowners attempt to reduce their costs, which may be of note to those thinking of fitting a new Hudson Reed tap set. Jason Orme, editor of the publication, commented: "People are keeping a much tighter eye on their cash and I think that actually there will be a return to people trying to do work themselves rather than paying labourers to do it." He also predicted an increase in the amount of work done to the nation's bathrooms, kitchens and other rooms as homeowners attempt to improve their house in a highly-competitive market. Findings from Rics' Building Cost Information Service report the cost of home improvements has increased by 20 per cent on average over the past the two years, with plumbing work seeing a 22 per cent rise. ![]() |
