Taps - Aussie invents water-saving shower device07/12/2007 An enterprising handyman has invented a water-saving device with a - dare we say it rather sadistic - difference. Trevor Murphy of Coolum, Australia, has developed the AquaLim - a device which cuts off water supply to showers after a certain volume has been used. Mr Murphy came up with the idea in response to his increasing frustration over the lengthy showers being taken by his teenage daughters. He told the Daily Advertiser: "I had the idea about three-and-half years ago when I was getting frustrated with yelling at my teenage daughters to turn the taps off. "I thought to myself that I needed to invent something that turned the water off for them." He added: "I have it fitted at home and it has got the message across to my daughters." Mr Murphy is currently seeking manufacturers for the AquaLim and plans to launch it onto the mass market next year. Heat and Plumb sells a wide range of water-saving devices, including Duchy taps and showers and shower valves from Deva. ![]() |
