Luxury apartments feature underfloor heating13/06/2008 Underfloor heating and renewable energyboilers are just two of the features of a new luxury development in Croydon, it has been reported. The 20-storey IYLO tower will include 183 private apartments designed to offer upmarket living space which rivals that found in London, according to Res. Apartments will be fitted with underfloor heating, with penthouse suites benefiting from comfort cooling, and the building's kitchen will feature quartz work surfaces. Bathrooms are equally luxurious, sporting Italian polished porcelain tiles on the floors and walls, with ensuites which will have wet room-style tiled showers. The building will be heated by a communal biomass boiler, which will burn wood chips or pellets. Ash Pillai, a director with Croydon-based Phoenix Logistics, which is joint-developing the project, told the publication: "We have already sold 50 percent of the apartments and have absolute confidence in our ability to sell the rest." Last week, the government announced grants of up to £200,000 were available for biomass fuel producers, in an effort to increase the supply of the renewable energy source. ![]() |
