Heat Pumps - New Worcester pumps launched
03/04/2008
A leading boiler manufacturer has launched a series of air-to-water heat pumps that will help homeowners lower their carbon emissions.
Worcester's Greensource pumps draw external air into the unit and produce heat that can be used in the home, including hot water and uses in
underfloor heating and large
radiators, reports Buildingtalk.
Martyn Bridges, director of marketing and technical support at Worcester, told the site: "We think they will catch on quite quickly, as the only space requirement for installing an air-to-water heat pump is an accessible outside wall."
He added that the product is popular in Sweden, and he expects that it will be successful in the UK due to the relatively milder winters.
The product can work in temperatures as low as -20C, and can produce four times more heat than the electricity it uses.
Greensource water pumps will be available from June 2008, with a range of air-to-air pumps to follow.
Last year, Worcester's Greenstar CDi range won Corgi's coveted Boiler of the Year award.
