Solar Panels - Solar-powered water tank ''to cut bills''
04/12/2007
The installation of a solar-powered shower system linked to a water tank should yield significant savings on utility bills, it has been claimed.
Maine Bay Area Fitness has fitted his shower system with the new technology, which boasts an innovative closed-loop design, a 90-tube collector and a 165-gallon storage tank and is powered by solar panels on the roof.
In so doing, manager Ed Flanders thinks he will be able to cut bills in the face of rising gas and oil prices while simultaneously cutting the building's carbon footprint.
He told Village Soup: "It is too early to determine cost-benefits of this system but I will have a better idea in one year," he told his local Village Soup publication.
"The oil furnace rarely fires with this system - that's a good sign."
Heat and Plumb offers an extensive range of alternative heating solutions as well as water tanks from Balmoral and Edincare rainwater harvesting systems.
