If you were to just connect a cold water supply – you could enjoy the ‘Steam Function’ of your steam room but would not be able to have a hot shower.

Is there a minimum water pressure for a Duchy Steam Room / Sauna Room?

The Steam Function of your Duchy Steam Room may operate on a low water pressure – however the recommended water pressure for the entire Duchy Steam Room Range is 2.5-3.0 Bar. Your plumber will be the best person to determine what water pressure you have – but please advise your qualified installer that your steam room will require 9 litres per min of hot water and 9 litres per minute of cold water. If your home is powered by a combi boiler – please check with the manufacturer if your boiler can supply 9 litres per minute of hot water.

If my home has low pressure – can I use a water pump?

An excellent solution to low water pressure problems. A mains water pump may provide the perfect solution to enable you to install a Duchy Steam Room / Sauna Room in your home. I have a Combi Boiler – will a Duchy Steam Room Work with this boiler?

Yes – a combi boiler will work with our steam rooms under certain conditions. First of all – you need to make sure that your combi boiler can deliver 9 litres of hot water per minute. We also advise that you consult with your plumber to see if you will need a ‘Pressure Reducing Valve’ fitting to your incoming cold water supply. This valve will ensure that your cold and hot water pressures match, it’s called equilibrium.

Will a Duchy Steam Room / Sauna Room work with a gravity fed system?

Almost certainly – No. You will know if you have a gravity fed water system if your hot water cylinder (usually in the airing cupboard) has a soft cylinder jacket around it and you have a water tank in your loft. The gravity of the water in the water tank in your loft feeding your hot water cylinder is what provides the water pressure in a gravity fed system. Generally if a water storage tank in the loft is 10 metres above your steam room – this will provide 1 bar of pressure. This will not be enough to operate a Duchy Steam Room. A solution to this problem may be to install a water pump to increase the pressure, but we advise you to consult a qualified plumber to determine if this is possible.

Does a Duchy Steam Room / Sauna Room come with everything I need?

Everything required to make your Duchy Steam Room / Sauna Room experience a relaxing place to be is supplied for successful assembly.
