How to Declutter Your Bathroom

If there is one thing that can be frustrating in our home, it has to be a cluttered and messy bathroom. By their very nature, bathrooms are small and this means that it won't take much for them to become untidy.

That said, the majority of stuff that we have in our bathrooms are useful and are things that we may reach for on a daily basis. So, what can we do about them?

To make sure that you have a neat and tidy bathroom, we have put together our top tips on how to make sure that it is as de-cluttered as possible.

Try and keep the things that you use every day

It is all too easy to hide lots of things away in your bathroom, particularly if you cannot find a proper home for them elsewhere. This isn't too much of a headache if your bathroom is larger and has plenty of space, but what do you do if you are already cramped.

For smaller bathrooms the idea is that you should only ever keep out the thing that you are going to need to use each and every day, else they could be stored away, recycled or passed onto someone else.

Use clever storage

Storage is absolutely your friend when it comes to your bathroom, so make the most of it. There are plenty of storage solution ideas online that you can try out in your own bathroom. Some of the ideas are obvious, whilst there are also those that you definitely wouldn't have thought of.

This includes tray organisers in drawers and also shelves that are hidden away on top of doors or cabinets. Anything that comes in the form of clever and innovative cabinets and storage.

Make a daily effort to clean

We are all guilty of storing up our cleaning and simply blitzing our homes all in one big blast. However, this is incredibly time-consuming, not to mention boring too. A much better approach to take is to make an effort to clean and organise on a daily basis.

In the bathroom this is incredibly important. You are going to want to make sure that your bathroom is given a spruce up each and every day. Now this doesn't mean that you need to be planning in a full on clean; but what it does mean is that you should aim to tidy up and put things away. This will make sure that your bathroom always looks its best.

Think about tricky corners and spaces

Do you find yourself longing for a bathroom that is a regular shape? Many of us do. But, what we fail to realise is that whilst some bathrooms might be slightly irregular in their shape, we can actually make this work to our advantage.

By this we mean that you can take a look at those trickier spaces and see how you can use them, more often than not on storage of some kind. You should also think about how you can make corners a much more useful space in your bathroom, and thankfully there are plenty of corner-based storage solutions out there that you can choose to install.

Avoid storing everything in sight

One common problem with bathrooms is that no matter how hard you try to keep things to a minimum; there are always going to be bottles, pots and many other containers that need to find a home. It is all too tempting to simply have them on the counter, on the shelf, around the sides of the bath, where they are easy to reach.

Doing this means that the entire room is going to look incredibly cluttered and messy, even if it isn't that bad. We would never suggest that simply hiding mess away is ever a good idea, but, if you are worried about how your bathroom looks then maybe you could think about making sure that you store as much as possible away from plain sight, which will help you to create a sense of neatness, even if this isn't strictly true.

The main thing to remember about your bathroom is that it doesn't matter how big or small it is; you can still find ways to ensure that it is as neat as possible and that it doesn't appear to be cluttered.

Take the time and the effort to keep your bathroom looking just how you want it to and we can promise you that in no time at all you will have a bathroom that is a relaxing space for you and for all your family.
