Infra-Red / Electronic Taps
Electronic infra-red taps release water on the detection of movement, and are very popular in commercial premises for hygiene purposes. Because you do not need to touch this tap, the spreading of germs becomes a much harder task. Once only found in posh hotel bathrooms, the infra-red tap has gradually made its way into the mainstream and is an affordable touch of luxury for any British home. The main benefit of this style of tap is that you don't need to touch the tap surfaces with dirty hands to turn it on; just pass your hand in front of the infra-red sensor and the water flow starts automatically.
