Pull Out Kitchen Taps

Pull out taps have been very popular in the catering and hospitality industry for a number of years now but are fast becoming a key tool in the kitchen. Using a pull out spray means washing up becomes a doddle, not to mention rinsing the vegetables before cooking.

Thanks to a long flexible hose you can easily reach those hard to clean areas and if the kids are being mischievous, then a little spray won't hurt surely? All of our range only require one tap hole and most will require a minimum of 1.0 bar water pressure so keep this in mind when choosing.

Pull Out Kitchen Taps

Cooking programmes are among the most popular things on British television, so it's probably so surprise that we're all coveting the high-end kitchens which we see the professionals cooking in. Even if your cooking skills are more 'Come Dine With Me' than 'Masterchef', wouldn't it be great to have all of the gadgets and gizmos of a commercial kitchen? It's hard to justify the expense of a blast chiller or sous-vide machine if you're not cooking for a living, but one element of the commercial kitchen which is perfect for any home cook is the pull out kitchen tap.

Benefits of Pull Out Kitchen Taps

As the name suggests a pull out kitchen tap has two functions. With the nozzle clipped in place, it works just like any other kitchen mixer taps. Most swivel from one side to the other to allow you to direst the flow of water, you can get water at the perfect temperature and use the tap to full the basin for washing up or the kettle for a cup of tea.

Where pull out kitchen taps differ from other types of mixer taps is that the nozzle can be unclipped from the static, upright section of the tap. It's attached to a long, flexible hose and this allows you to use the spray away from the sink too. Just think about all the household tasks which could be made easier by having water close at hand. Rinsing down sinks and worksurfaces are the obvious ones, but many people will pull out taps in their kitchens at home are using them for everything from cleaning vegetables to watering their plants or washing the dog.

Installing Pull Out Kitchen Taps

The good news about installing a pull out kitchen tap is that there is no more complex plumbing than with any other sort of mixer tap. This also means that if you're stuck with a conventional mixer tap but really want to upgrade, then it's possible to install a new pull out tap without having to replace the entire sink as well. The other great thing about pull out kitchen taps is that they're an affordable luxury. Our range starts with a wide selection of pull out taps well under £100, with the option to upgrade to a more expensive model should you wish. If you're particularly handy with the DIY then you might be able to manage the fitting of your new tap yourself, but if you have to get a plumber in, it's a straightforward job.

Buying a Pull Out Tap - Things to Think About

If you're sold on the idea of a pull out kitchen tap, then the next decision is which of the many taps in the range to go for. No one tap is "better" than any other, so it's impossible to come up with a ranking system to help you decide which one to buy. What we can do is provide you with a few things to think about to help narrow down your options a bit.

  • Style - most pull out taps are tall and spout-like in appearance, which is a great option for the modern kitchen. Not all pull out taps are designed like that though, and our range also contains some more traditional options which give the functionality of the pull out nozzle but in a more conventionally styled tap.
  • Manufacturer - We know that some customers prefer some manufacturers over others, and our comprehensive range contains taps from all of the big names in the market such as Grohe, Astracast, Ultra and Rangemaster.
  • Budget - In an ideal world we'd all be able to buy exactly what we wanted without giving cost a second thought, but we know life's not like that. Our range covers all bases from the value for money ranges through to more premium brands.
  • Hose length - If you're not moving your sink, think about how far you'd ideally like the hose to stretch to reach other areas of the kitchen.
  • Water pressure - All taps are made differently, and some may be recommended for use within a specified pressure range. If you know what the pressure is at your cold taps, this should help narrow the search to the taps which will perform properly in your home.
