Bidets

They are not as popular in the UK as on the continent, but bidets are still a core part of many bathroom suite collections. We list bidets from many of the top names in the bathroom industry, including Ideal Standard, Twyford, Roca and RAK Ceramics. There are two main types of bidet; mounted to the floor (sometimes referred to as back to wall) or mounted to the wall (wall hung). Most bidets will include a tap hole so that a bidet mixer tap can be used - though some high-end models wish for you to purchase a wall mounted bidet mixer and are supplied without tap holes.

Bidet Guide

Bidet Types - Quick Guide

Bidets improve personal hygiene and significantly reduce reliance on toilet paper in the bathroom. These fixtures provide a targeted water stream for thorough, comfortable cleaning. We explain what each type means.

FAQs About Bidets

It depends entirely on the type of bidet. Traditional ceramic bidets function like a wash basin and require both hot and cold water feeds to supply a mixer tap. However, electronic bidet seats and smart toilets only require a cold water feed and an electrical connection, as they heat the water internally. Always verify your specific model's plumbing requirements before purchase.

No. A bidet functions alongside a standard toilet for washing purposes only and does not process solid waste. Users transfer to the bidet after using the primary toilet fixture.

Yes. Bidet taps feature an adjustable directional nozzle at the tip of the spout. This distinct design directs the water flow upwards or at a specific angle for effective personal washing.

Yes. Households substantially decrease their toilet paper consumption after installing a bidet. While daily water usage increases slightly, the overall financial reduction on paper products remains significant over time.
