Freestanding Wet Room Screens

A freestanding wet room screen stands away from the wall, so you can walk around it and into the shower from either side. It suits larger bathrooms and open-plan en-suites, where the shower can sit as a centrepiece rather than tucked into a corner.

Because the glass isn't fixed to a wall along one edge, freestanding screens are held firm by two bracing bars, or by floor-to-ceiling support poles, which give a clean, minimal look. Some designs pair two screens to create a walk-through shower with an entrance at each end.

With water able to escape from both sides, a freestanding screen works best in a fully tanked wet room, or over a large walk-in shower tray or wet room floor former that drains the whole area. Toughened safety glass, usually 8mm or 10mm, keeps the screen strong and stable.
